Freeplay for SYSTEM 80B

Presentation

We studied the possibility to implement a function FREEPLAY for SYSTEM 80B, like what we have already achieved for the SYSTEM 80 and 80A If the principle is the same, the realization is totally different because the specific architecture of the SYSTEM 80B.

The operation and configuration of the FREEPLAY mode are described in this article.

Files to set the CPU card EPROM are freely downloadable from the list below. These archives contain additional files (sound PROMs).

Installation

Make sure you choose the correct version of PROM corresponding to your Pinball, then unzip the archive downloaded. Only the PROM1 is changed and the extracted file must be programmed in memory, EPROM 2764, or a 2864 EEPROM. Replace this PROM1 memory on the Piggyback by this new version.

If you have a version that does not appear in the list, contact us and we will investigate the possibility to integrate the FREEPLAY.

Variant

Due to lack of space in memory, a slightly different version was developed for:

• 717X - Bad Girls (FR)
• 717Y - Bad Girls (DE)
• 718 - Hot Shots
• 718X - Hot Shots (FR)
• 718Y - Hot Shots (DE)

For these pinballs, the FREEPLAY mode is enabled by setting the maximum number of credits to 20 (by putting both DIP 15 and 16 to ON). This configuration has the advantage to be few used and operation remains normal for other values (8, 10, and 15 credits max).
